Maria Farrer

I live and workin the Yorkshire Dales and share my home with my husband and my fantastically energetic black labrador.

When I'm not writing, I am usually found heading for the outdoors - walking, running, cycling, climbing, skiing. I'm happiest when faced with an uphill challenge and have a passion for hills and mountains.

 

I studied speech sciences at University College London and have spent much of my life teaching, lecturing and working with students with language and literacy difficulties. More recently, I spent an incredible year doing the MA in Writing for Young People at Bath Spa University.

 

During 8 years living in New Zealand, I started writing books for younger children. I then switched to YA before beginning work with the lovely polar bear, Mister P. I am currently working on the fourth book in the series.

 

It's easy to miss out on opportunities in life because we're afraid of failure. That's why I like to take risks, set myself challenges and seek out new opportunities. I love reading and writing as books can take us anywhere and everywhere we want to go.
